Business Opportunities

Mare Island – Located on the Napa River and the San Francisco Bay, Mare Island provides a rich historical context by serving as a naval shipyard for 150 years until 1996. Currently, Mare Island provides an integrated community, developed through a unique public/private partnership between the City of Vallejo and Lennar Mare Island, LLC which will result in the construction of 1400 homes and over 7 million square feet of non-residential development. The vision of the island, offering a diverse collection of commercial, industrial, maritime and residential opportunities, is a vital new place where people can work, live and play.  Amenities include a high-speed commuter ferry terminal with direct access to downtown San Francisco, and over 500 acres of open space popular with hikers and birders. Waterfront – The 52-acre Waterfront Project is currently planned for mixed-use, residential and office development, combined with open space amenities. Located adjacent to the main Vallejo Ferry terminal, the Waterfront Project will bring 24/7 activity and a pedestrian-friendly environment to the waterfront, making this new neighborhood an exciting destination for local residents and regional visitors. Craft Beverage Industry – Vallejo is quickly becoming a hub for the craft beverage industry of Northern California with a number of distilleries, wineries, and breweries slated to open in 2017. With ample capacity for production facilities, tasting rooms, and food service, Vallejo offers a unique opportunity for producers to promote their goods and services and connect with clients and the community.

Manufacturing & Industrial – Advanced manufacturing and related industries are included as Vallejo’s prioritized large industry clusters with a diverse set of businesses that are engaged in the design, development, fabrication, assembly, refurbishing, logistics, and distribution of a variety of products. This cluster also incorporates a number of clean technology and environmental services companies, maritime-related businesses, metal and construction materials manufacturing, and heavy civil engineering construction.

Commercial & Residential development projects –  After an ambitious three-year comprehensive planning effort, the City will be adopting its new Propel Vallejo General Plan 2040 and Sonoma Boulevard Specific Plan in Summer 2017, followed by the adoption of a new Development Code in 2018. The plans are bold new visions capitalizing on the City’s waterfront setting and historic neighborhoods, and envision vibrant mixed-use corridors, walkable neighborhoods, and jobs-focused employment centers.
